The Hunt For ‘Business Book Of The Year’ Begins
After the unmitigated success of last year’s event, the Business Book Awards are back for their third year – and set to unearth and champion the game-changing books that need to be on every business leader, entrepreneur and visionary’s bookshelf.

After the unmitigated success of last year’s event, the Business Book Awards are back for their third year – and set to unearth and champion the game-changing books that need to be on every business leader, entrepreneur and visionary’s bookshelf. 2019 saw the awards paving the way to success for female business book authors – tackling the worrying trend that only half as many female as male entrepreneurs publish business books. Creating a women’s category and encouraging more female entrants drew huge success – with women winning awards in 4 out of the 9 categories. 2020 will see the awards champion business authors from diverse backgrounds – with a dedicated category for ‘An Exceptional Book That Promotes Diversity’. The categories also include: Start-Up Inspiration; Sales & Marketing; HR & Management; Sustainable Change; Leadership for the Future; Business Self-Development; Personal Development & Wellbeing; Short Business Book; Specialist Business Book; International Business Book; and Best Business Book of the Year. The awards reflect the changing face of the publishing industry – and are open not only to books published through traditional routes but also self-published books. The only business book awards to do so. The shortlist will be announced on 15th January 2020 at an exclusive drinks reception at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in Paddington. The awards dinner will be held on 23rd March 2020 in London. Last year’s event was a sell-out, attracting 250 of the most influential figures in business and publishing. Entries close on 31st December and full details of how to enter can be found here.

2019’s Inspirational Winners

2019’s winners include: Dr Pippa Malmgren, economic and political trend advisor to governments across the globe; No.1 New York Times bestselling author Robert Greene; Chris Lewis, founder of LEWIS - one of the world’s largest communications agencies; leading performance psychologist Fiona Murden; and inventor and world-leading strategist Jonathan MacDonald.

2020’s Prestigious Judges

The awards are judged by some of the finest minds in business, journalism and publishing. Head Judge Alison Jones has worked for over 25 years with leading companies, from Chambers and Oxford University Press to Palgrave Macmillan, where she was Director of Innovation Strategy. Each category is overseen by a panel of 3-4 experts, including leading figures from the world of publishing, management consultancy, journalism, PR, business coaching and higher education. Awards Founder Lucy McCarraher said:

“The Business Book Awards aim to capture the diversity of authors publishing brilliant business books in the UK and internationally. They offer industry-wide recognition to new and established authors. At the Business Book Awards, we welcome every good book and all methods of publication. I want to recognise business book writing in all its forms and bring the top authors of this valuable genre to public recognition."

"The awards allow all authors who enter, are short-listed or win to publicise and sell more books; and shortlisted and winning authors to gain recognition and more business. The Awards instil aspiration in entrants and pride in winners; and the ongoing process inspires other budding writers to come forward and publish their work,” Lucy McCarraher concluded.
