Mimi So launches new sustainable jewellery line

Mimi So launches new sustainable jewellery line

Mimi So, a third generation jeweller, grew up amongst the inspiring jewels and objects her parents crafted for private clients and developed appreciation for exquisitely handcrafted works of art — qualities which make her jewellery invaluable today.

Mimi So launches new line of jewellery inspired by her alma mater, Parsons

Post-pandemic, once social distancing allowed the jeweller to see her father in person again, she started sorting through 40-plus years of family history—she’s a first-generation New Yorker and child of Chinese immigrants. In the pursuit of rediscovering her past, she came across mementos, old school supplies and past works of art on watercolor, acrylic on canvas and other projects assigned to her when she was a student at the acclaimed Parsons School of Design. With newfound appreciation of her past and creative juices flowing, Mimi has just launched her new fine jewellery collection “Parsons”, named after her alma mater.

“In addition to our jewellers, setters, polishers, and engravers, we use the highest quality materials. All our stones are conflict-free and responsibly sourced. Center stone diamonds come with reports from the Gemological Institute of America and our precious metal suppliers practice ethical and sustainable sourcing of recycled metals,” is the message on the sustainable jeweller’s official website.

Per CFDA, where she was admitted in 2009, her fine jewellery is acclaimed for its modern designs, graphic shapes, clean asymmetrical lines and bold fluid movements. By 2012, she was elected to the CFDA board of directors, and in another three years, she was elected Treasurer i.e. one of the five officers of the CFDA, overseeing the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and New York Fashion Week. In 2015, U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden selected her as a representatives of the U.S., to host Chinese President Xi Jinping at the official state luncheon.
