Humanity Protocol Unveils Humanity Foundation to Advance Decentralised Digital Identity

Humanity Protocol has launched the Humanity Foundation to advance decentralised digital identity using its privacy-first Proof of Humanity framework. Led by Yat Siu, Mario Nawfal, and Yeewai Chong, the Foundation will drive innovation, issue grants, and build partnerships. The framework integrates privacy-preserving biometrics and layered credentials to empower secure, decentralised interactions across digital and physical spaces.

Humanity Protocol, a blockchain platform focused on privacy-first digital identity solutions, has announced the launch of the Humanity Foundation. This initiative aims to drive innovation, encourage community growth, and promote the global adoption of its Proof of Humanity framework.

The Humanity Foundation will be led by a distinguished team of founding directors:

  • Yat Siu, Chairman of Animoca Brands
  • Mario Nawfal, Founder of International Blockchain Consulting
  • Yeewai Chong, a seasoned investment professional with experience at Morgan Stanley and Ortus Capital

Their combined expertise will guide the Foundation’s mission of advancing decentralised identity technology and positioning Humanity Protocol as a global standard for digital identity solutions.

Focus on decentralised identity

At the heart of Humanity Protocol is its Proof of Humanity framework, which uses privacy-preserving biometrics to establish human uniqueness securely and sybil-resistantly. This innovative technology ensures privacy while verifying users’ identities, serving as the foundation for a decentralised and extensible identity layer.

“Biometrics provide the ideal starting point for building a secure, decentralised identity system,” said Yeewai Chong, interim CEO of Humanity Foundation. “By anchoring Proof of Humanity in biometric verification, we unlock a world of possibilities for integrating diverse human attributes into a single, privacy-first identity framework.”

The Humanity Protocol enables users to layer credentials—such as educational qualifications, employment records, and social reputation—onto their verified identity. This approach empowers individuals to take ownership of their data while interacting confidently across digital and physical domains.

The role of the humanity foundation

The Humanity Foundation has been established to accelerate the adoption and development of the Humanity Protocol. Key activities will include:

  • Issuing grants: Funding initiatives that encourage innovation and adoption of decentralised identity solutions.
  • Ecosystem growth: Incentivising community engagement and the development of new use cases.
  • Partnerships: Collaborating with organisations across industries to broaden the implementation of the Proof of Humanity framework.

In parallel, the Human Institute, led by Terence Kwok, will focus on the technical and strategic expansion of the Humanity Protocol. The institute’s responsibilities include advancing the protocol’s product roadmap, fostering ecosystem development, and forming partnerships to solidify Humanity Protocol’s position as the global benchmark for decentralised identity.

About Humanity Protocol

Humanity Protocol is a decentralised blockchain designed to revolutionise identity verification by combining privacy-preserving biometrics with sybil-resistant authentication. Its Proof of Humanity framework creates an open identity layer for secure interactions in both digital and physical spaces. It seeks to advance innovation by funding research and development while exploring applications in decentralised identity verification. The Foundation is committed to promoting global adoption of non-invasive biometrics and decentralised identity solutions, demonstrating their potential across various sectors.

About Humanity Protocol

Humanity Protocol is a decentralised framework designed to revolutionise identity verification through its Proof of Humanity technology. It introduces innovative solutions that prioritise security, privacy, and inclusivity, enabling users to establish and use digital identities in a manner that integrates seamlessly with both online and offline environments.

At the core of Humanity Protocol is the Proof of Humanity system, which leverages non-invasive biometrics to verify user identities securely. This system is designed to address persistent challenges in online spaces, such as the prevalence of bots and fraudulent activity, by fostering trust through verifiable human identities. Beyond online verification, the protocol facilitates various real-world applications, such as secure payments, event access, and building entry, by linking biometric data to permissions.
