LVMH Brings Luxury and Sustainability to Paris 2024 Olympics

Luxury conglomerate LVMH and the Paris 2024 Organising Committee has revealed the outfits designed for volunteer medals bearers as well as the trays designed by Louis Vuitton to hold the medals for each Victory Ceremony during the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024.

The attire for 515 volunteer medal bearers is influenced by 1920s sportswear. Embracing circular fashion principles, the outfits are designed entirely from eco-designed materials crafted from upcycled textile offcuts sourced from diverse LVMH brands. Employing the strength of Louis Vuitton’s trunk-making heritage and craftsmanship, the medals trays were crafted by Louis Vuitton artisans at the Beaulieu-sur-Layon workshop in Maine-et-Loire, specialising in leather goods. The lightweight trays are covered by the maison’s Damier canvas, lined with matt black leather and will display medals crafted by LVMH-owned jewellery brand Chaumet.

Showcasing a combination of heritage craftsmanship, exceptional design and sustainability, this initiative aligns with LVMH’s vision to be at the forefront of sustainable and inclusive luxury. The luxury conglomerate is focusing on creative circularity, with 100 per cent eco-designed materials, sourced in particular from the LVMH Circularity closed-loop textiles recycling ecosystem. LVMH also continues to shine the spotlight on local production, with outfits largely manufactured in France – including collaborations with refugee artisans in France, assisting them leverage the skill set of their native craft and adapt to the requirements of the French market. While these efforts demonstrate LVMH’s commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship, the Paris Olympics provide a global stage for the group to showcase its brands and tangible actions towards sustainability.
